The Unfamiliar Words of "Family Vacation"

 

The other day, I was chatting with a friend of mine who at that time said he was out for a family vacation. And I just realized, how strange and unfamiliar those words are to me. Then, I sat there reading those words over and over again, and unconsciously wondering what was family vacation felt like.

But, the funny thing is I couldn't even remember when did I ever go for a family vacation with my parents.

At that time, a million questions appeared on my mind. I wanted to ask my friend a lot of questions. 'What do you usually do on family vacations?' 'Where do you usually go on family vacations?' 'Is it fun?' 'Do you feel happy?' 'What kind of activities do you guys do on family vacations?' and many other questions that have been stuck on my mind until now. But, of course, I kept it at the back of my head instead.

Because I felt silly and dumb for asking such strange questions. I realize that for some people family vacation is a regular activity that become a must-do thing with your family every once in a while. I felt so embarrassed that I was even thinking of asking those questions lol.

For some people,  it might be something silly to even think about. But, I can't help but put a lot of thinking into it. Blame my overthinking. Suddenly, I felt hopeful and curious for a second before it washed away by the upsetting feeling after  I realized that I couldn't turn back time and make those memories.

The thing is, I'm just hoping that all parents out there can make time for their children for a once in a while vacation together, it doesn't even have to be expensive and majestic. Only enough for your children to have one family vacation memory that will be remembered all their lives.

Because at that moment, what I felt was the longing feeling of wanting to experience those activities together, and I know there are a lot of people who felt the same thing.
